Mirjam Jaeger

quality human

Mirjam Jaeger was born and raised in Zurich, Switzerland where she learned to ski and was always close to the best possible mountains. Although, she grew up skiing, Jaeger learned to snowboard when she was young and it quickly became her passion. While balancing her academic studies, Jaeger was able to ski and snowboard. It wasn’t until late in her career that she put aside snowboarding and focused on just skiing. Jaeger’s incredible list of wins includes a second place at X-Games 2008, a second place at the 2011 Dew Tour in Breckenridge, CO, fifth at the Overall 2012 FIS Worldcup Ranking and third at the 2013 FIS Worldcup in Cardrona, NZ. Recently, Mirjam attended the 2014 Olympics and competed in half pipe and took an impressive 8th place. She knows how to #rockdiscrete.

Q&A

1.) When was your 'breakout year' and how did it happen?

That was in 2008 with my 2nd place at X-Games.

2.) What have been some of your toughest challenges this past season? How did you overcome them?

I've had to overcome some mental blocks I've been dealing with since like 3 years due to an accident that happened in the pipe. Respect turned into fear and I was afraid to do certain tricks… trust me its no fun skiing like that;-) It sounds silly but my head just didn't let me do those tricks anymore…I was so scared of them.

3.) If you weren't a professional skier, what would you be doing?

I'd probably be a lawyer right now…haha! ( fortunately I started free skiing at some point in my life!!)

4.) Favorite Discrete product?

I live in beanies…so obvi all the different beanies;-)

5.) Who are some of your favorite people to follow on Instagram?

I follow a lot of professional nature/fashion photographers. I love great pictures! If you post a lot of food pics I definitely don't follow you;-) #stopthefoodpics

6.) How where the olympics?

I had the time of my life! It was straight up the best experience I've ever had! All my hard work payed off. They way to get there was so stressful. The constant pressure of getting the results in order to qualify but at the same time not risking too much cause I couldn't get injured was really tough on everyone I think.

7.) Which athletes did you admire most growing up, and who do you look up to now?

I actually never had a this one role model in my life. I've just kinda always gone my own way…! Of course I've always looked up to Sarah and I still do.

8.) Sponsors?

Alfex watches, Bollé, Discrete, Sorel
