Dane Tudor

dude crushes

A few years ago we got a call from photographer Dan Carr telling us to check out this kid Dane Tudor. We listened, and are indebted. Dane does nothing but crush everything in his path and has a damn fun time along the way. He has been scoring annual anticipated award winning segments in Poor Boyz each year plus piling up POWDER magazine awards. Keep it up Dane! He just won silver in the most recent X-games “real street”.

Q&A

1.) Who are some of your favorite people to follow on Instagram?

I don't really have a favorite! Everyone posts such awesome pictures and I enjoy them all!

2.) What have been some of your toughest challenges this past season? How did you overcome them?

I dislocated my hip in January of 2013 and was out for the entire winter season. It was the first injury that put me out for the year. It was tough to sit around and do nothing as I'm such an active kid. I trained hard all summer and was as ready as I could be for 2014, though I still was unsure how I would be able to ski. I took it easy, working my way back into the mountains and built up my confidence. By the end of the year I felt like I was skiing stronger then ever before and learning new tricks I'd never done!

3.) When was your 'breakout season' and how did it happen?

I had a stellar year in 2009 with Poor Boyz Productions for there movie Everyday Is A Saturday. I ended up getting opening segment and winning Best Male Pro at IF3 and Breakout Performance at Powder Awards! It was definitely a highlight year and the one that really put me on the map!

4.) Favorite Discrete product?

I love my Discrete beanies. One in particular that I wore all last season, with Discrete written around the hat.

5.) Favorite thing to do outside of skiing?

I enjoy biking, surfing, hiking, camping, fishing and dirtbiking during the summer months!

6.)When and where did you learn to ski? Who did you learn from?

My mum put me on skis at 3 years old, I've been skiing ever since! You could say she taught me the basics. Then I went into the Nancy Greene program and moved on to the Red Mtn Racers. I quit after my first year of FIS and pursued my career as a film skier! I also have to give credit to the local shredders that I looked up too. Donovan Skelton, Kevin Erwin, James Heim and Aaron Allibone. All those guys where very influential to my skiing.

7.) Which athletes did you admire most growing up, and who do you look up to now?

The first professional skier I looked up to was Seth Morrison, I died my hair black and went out and chucked backflips off every cliff I could find! I also enjoy watching Sammy Carlson, who I have since met and worked side by side with on projects and consider a good friend! Now I look up to pretty much everyone in our sport. From my buddis competing in the Olympics to my buddis skiing big lines in Alaska! I'm honored to be able to know and ski with so many amazing athletes from every corner of our sport!

8.) Sponsors?

Scott, Discrete, Mons Royal, Arcade Belts
