Brody Leven

tourist

Brody is a Professional athlete in many regards. He Seeks steep mountains, in unpopular countries, to climb and ski and enjoys hiking multiple days for one ski run. Beyond his athletic pursuits, he has an uncanny ability to write, produce, and engage people in his endeavors in a very tasteful manner. A vanguard. We’re always impressed with his down to earth nature, his humbleness, and always blown away by his constant adventuring. Yes Brody!

Q&A

1.) When and where did you learn? Who did you learn with?

Five minutes from my house, at Alpine Valley Ski Area, in Chesterland, Ohio. After-school ski lessons on Friday nights. I was five or six. It's a hundred feet tall. It rules, even though they always kicked out my friends and I for building jumps.

2.) Which people did you admire most growing up, and who do you look up to now?

Shaq and Ronaldo. And of course Jonny Moseley, Vinnie Dorian, the 3 Phils, JF Cusson, Mike Douglas, JP Auclair, Tanner Hall, Dave Crichton...that whole generation. Now, and for varying reasons, it's more Jeremy Jones, Conrad Anker, Jimmy Chin, Chris Davenport, Alex Honnold, Cory Richards, Hayden Kennedy, Adam Clark, Christian Pondella, Kyle Dempster, Alex Taran, Sierra Quitiquit, John Krakauer, Brendan Leonard, Eric Larson, Greg Hill, Ptor Spricenieks, Andreas Fransson, Caroline Gleich, Andy & Jason Dorais, Kilian Jornet, Anton Krupicka, Joe Grant, Adrian Ballinger.

3.) You recently started mountain biking, how is that going?

I suck. I raced (at that same ski area in Ohio) when I was really young, but have barely touched one since. In recent years, my only bikes have been for long-distance touring or going through red lights (and getting ticketed) without any brakes. On my new bike (did you know they have shocks in the front AND back these days!?), I go over the handlebars way more these days. If I was home more frequently, I would ride it more and get hurt more.

4.) How do you manage to post daily on social media with your busy travel/ski schedule?

Through advances in modern medicine, my iPhone has been surgically implanted into my palm via a series of non-invasive operations.

5.) Who are some of your favorite people to follow on Instagram?

See the people that I admire, above? Almost without fail, those are also my favorite Instagram accounts. Except Shaq. I don't follow Shaq.

6.) 20 years form now, what do you want to be remembered for?

Creating that job, climbing that mountain, skiing that line, making that difference.

7.) What has been your most memorable moment so far?

I've written ten different answers. This is too hard. I live in the present. Because if I sit and think about what I've done, I'm missing out on what I'm doing.

8.) Sponsors?

I partner with Salomon, Suunto, Discrete, Dynafit, Black Diamond, & Alta
