DEER VALLEY

JUNE 24

Cirque Series kicks off at Deer Valley Resort at 1:00 pm on June 24th. Runners are treated to views of Park City, Heber, State Park, descend back to the vendor village for, high-fives, music, food, beverages, and family and friends to root on all competitors through the finish area, Push Peaks!

THE COURSE

The 9.1 mile/14k, course with 2,260ft of climbing, has same start as last year, starts at the base of Snow Park Lodge, Deer Valley, and runs south up a dirt road, the road turns to the east and gets noticeably steeper. At the switchback in the road you will turn left and descend for a short distance on single track before connecting to the Deer Crest Trail. Continue up Deer Crest until you reach the Mid Mountain Trail, this is a new single track beginning approximately 3 miles and +800’ from the start. Continue along Mid Mountain for 1.5 miles and +200’ until you reach the Silver Lake Village, mid mountain Deer Valley. Start climbing again, directly across from Mid Mountain, on a narrower single track, the Silver Lake Hiking Trail. The Silver Lake Trail will take you through wooded terrain with ski run openings, with great views of the Jordanelle Reservoir and the Uinta Mountains. You will exit the woods to the left onto a service road that eventually tappers off to an old mining road before rising steeply to the summit of Bald Mountain at 9,400’. This section is 1.9 miles and +1,214’.

A new addition to the course last year, one last summit, will take you up the beautiful and dramatic sub-peak directly north of summit of Bald Mountain, this section is 1.3 miles and +700', and is arguably the coolest part of the race. Now begins the descent. Connect back to Ontario Hiking Trail. You will pass through a busy trail intersection with many bike trails in an open meadow as the trail flattens out a bit. You will notice Mount Timpanogos, on the left, in the distance. Continue through the meadow until the trail takes you back to the right, north, into the aspens. This section of trail is new, awesome, twisty single track with rocky sections and some short steep ascents and descents before coming out on a dirt road, the Homeward Bound ski trail. Continue north, right, down the 9 to 10% graded road until you reach Silver Lake Village again. This section is 2.5 miles and -1260’. From Silver Lake Village head north, left, ascending a dirt road, continue across the pavement at Bald Eagle Drive and further up the dirt road. You will reach the Success ski run, turn left and start descending the Devo trail. This trail is a narrow single track as it heads into the woods. The Devo trail is a steep descent with lots of tight turns, really fun, and a few rocky sections. Follow Devo back to Snow Park Village and the the Start/Finish. This section is 1.4 miles and -895'.

Each competitor receives a Cirque Series hat, raffle ticket, & finisher medal.

In the instance of mega wild weather we will assess things appropriately and fairly, to the best of our abilities. If the race is popular enough to create a waiting list, we will also treat your entry fairly with specifics TBD.
